Hotel Saint Vincent

Active Historic Redevelopment

Hotel Saint Vincent is a landmark 74-room boutique hotel in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans, housed in a meticulously restored 19th-century orphanage. The project involved the adaptive reuse and historic rehabilitation of the Saint Vincent's Asylum, one of the most significant historic structures in New Orleans.

The redevelopment preserved the original Italianate architecture while adding three restaurants, multiple bars, a pool, event spaces, and curated art installations. The project utilized Historic Tax Credits and New Markets Tax Credits as part of a complex capital stack, and has since become one of the most acclaimed hotels in New Orleans.

Hotel Saint Vincent is named for the historic Saint Vincent's Asylum that occupied the site from 1861 until the mid-20th century. The rehabilitation was completed by Palmisano Construction with interiors by Lambert McGuire Design, and the hotel is managed by MML Hospitality. Partners in the project include Strobel Development, with architecture by MetroStudio. The project utilized federal and state Historic Tax Credits as a cornerstone of the capital structure.
